OUR STORY
Mesay began with a simple desire: to create pure, nourishing skincare for our growing family. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, we're a small family of three (soon to be four!) who, after the birth of our son, Roman Mesay, began questioning the ingredients in our everyday products. Inspired by this journey of discovery, we founded Mesay Skincare, naming it after our son as a tribute to this transformative time.
Our story is woven with diverse passions and experiences. Billy, with his background as a Web Developer and Film Set-builder, brings a keen eye for design and a deep-seated passion for health and wellness to Mesay. Jesse, holding a Masters in Psychology and a wealth of experience working with children and youth, contributes a profound understanding of mental wellbeing. Together, we share a commitment to holistic wellness and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us in New Zealand. This love for our environment fuels our dedication to using locally sourced and, whenever possible, certified organic ingredients. We believe in creating skincare that not only nourishes the skin but also reflects our values and respects the world we live in.
BEHIND THE NAME
Mesay (Me-Sigh) is named after our firstborn son, Roman Mesay. This tradition began with his great-grandfather, Say, with each male in our family lineage carrying a variation of "Say" in their middle name. Roman is the fourth generation to honour this legacy.

The protective power of violet glass dates back to Ancient Egypt, where it was valued for its ability to preserve precious oils and elixirs. Even Cleopatra is said to have stored her aloe vera in violet glass jars.
In Eastern traditions, violet symbolizes universal harmony- a balance of Yin (preserving energy) and Yang (solar energy).
